ABSTRACT

Complementary examinations to verify the time of death can be defined as subsequent examinations that complement the first one. They may be seen as complementary to the usual evaluations and will act as further support to the diagnosis of death. In this area, which simultaneously involves law and medicine, knowledge of the latter is an advantage to arrive at conclusions about the causes of death – by which it will help the law – by using a range of methods for performing medical-legal expert evaluation on lifeless bodies. Therefore, among the artifices that exist for the purpose of an addition to the first survey, this study aims to gather complementary examinations to establish the time of death, which are divided into several types according to the range of techniques used to reach the same goals.
