ABSTRACT
Introduction: The criminal evidence stands out among others in the prosecution for providing an impartial analysis of criminal evidence, based on scientific methodology and, therefore, with the characteristic of reproducibility of its results, thus strengthening the procedural processing of contradiction. Material and methods: This article presents the Center for Storage and Custody of Remains (CGCV) of the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF) and its actions carried out to comply with the Anti-Crime Package or Law 13.964/2019, concerning the chain of custody, marking the pioneering spirit of the PCDF in Brazil in this context. Results and discussion: Procedural implementation was put in place expediently, however structural changes are still under analysis or in execution. Conclusion: If the chain of custody is not properly constituted, the material evidence may be totally or partially invalidated and, consequently, so may the resulting expert examination.
